Glutamate-rich protein 5 (ERICH5)

Overview

Glutamate-rich protein 5 (ERICH5) is encoded by the ERICH5 gene on human chromosome 8q22.2 and contains three exons[2][7]. The protein is predicted to localize to the nucleus, contains a conserved domain of unknown function (DUF4573), and has motifs linked to APC/C binding and nuclear cell checkpoint processes[2]. ERICH5 exists in two isoforms, interacts with several nuclear proteins, and is expressed most highly in the fetal liver, adult liver, pancreas, and retina[2][1][5][6]. It shows increased expression in Alcoholic Hepatitis but no substantial evidence for a therapeutic target role or direct involvement in major human diseases[2][5]. No drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns have been identified in relation to this gene/protein to date.
