Glutamic acid decarboxylase 2 (GAD2), also known as GAD65, is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of L-glutamic acid to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It is a key autoantigen in type 1 diabetes and implicated in other autoimmune diseases.
