Overview

Glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2 pseudogene 2 (GOT2P2) is classified as a pseudogene derived from the gene encoding the mitochondrial enzyme glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2 (GOT2, also known as aspartate aminotransferase 2)[2][1][6]. Being a pseudogene, GOT2P2 does not code for a functional protein and typically does not have known biological activities, molecular functions, or disease associations. There are no known drugs or therapeutic applications targeting this pseudogene, and it is not considered a viable therapeutic target[2]. GOT2P2 is sometimes referred to by alternative names such as “glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase 2-like 2 pseudogene” or “GOT2L2.” Its classification as a pseudogene distinguishes it from the functional GOT2 enzyme, which has metabolic and disease relevance, but those properties do not apply to GOT2P2. No evidence exists of direct biological activity, disease involvement, or clinical use for this molecular entity[2][6].
