Glutaminolysis is a metabolic pathway that catabolizes the amino acid glutamine to generate energy and provide biosynthetic precursors for cell growth and proliferation. This pathway is especially important in rapidly dividing cells, such as cancer cells, immune cells, and certain kidney tissues.
