Glutaredoxin pseudogene 1 (GLRXP1) is a human non-coding pseudogene, homologous to the glutaredoxin (thioltransferase) family, but lacking catalytic activity due to disabling mutations[4][2]. Unlike functional glutaredoxins (such as Glutaredoxin-1, GLRX), GLRXP1 does not produce an enzyme and therefore has no direct biochemical functions. Some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles at the RNA level, potentially acting as miRNA "sponges" or affecting gene expression through sequence homology, but no specific regulatory mechanism or disease association has been established for GLRXP1[2][5]. GLRXP1 is commonly annotated in genomic databases but is not considered a valid therapeutic target.
