Overview

Glutaredoxin pseudogene 2 (GLRXP2) is a pseudogene in the human genome. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but are nonfunctional; they typically arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and generally do not encode an active protein. GLRXP2 is related by sequence to the Glutaredoxin family, but differs from active members such as Glutaredoxin 2 (GLRX2) in that it does not code for a functional protein and does not participate in biological processes or serve as a therapeutic target[6].
