Glutaredoxin pseudogene 3 (GLRXP3) is a non-functional pseudogene, meaning it is a genomic sequence similar to the protein-coding glutaredoxin genes but does not encode a functional protein. There is no evidence that GLRXP3 has any enzymatic activity, biological function, or role as a target for therapeutic intervention. Pseudogenes like GLRXP3 are remnants of evolutionarily related protein-coding genes (in this case, related to the glutaredoxin family), but with accumulating mutations and/or lack of necessary regulatory elements, they do not produce a functional protein product[1][4].
