Target intelligence / Profile preview
Glutathione reductase is a ubiquitous, homodimeric flavoprotein enzyme that plays a central role in cellular redox homeostasis by catalyzing the NADPH-dependent reduction of oxidized glutathione disulfide (GSSG) to its reduced form, glutathione (GSH). This reaction is essential for maintaining high intracellular levels of GSH, one of the most abundant and important cellular antioxidants.
Inhibition of glutathione reductase activity to modulate cellular redox state.
