Overview

Glutathione S-transferase alpha pseudogene 2 (GSTAP2; also called GSTA10P) is a member of the GST alpha family pseudogenes in the human genome[3][5]. Unlike functional GST alpha enzymes, which play significant roles in detoxification and defense against stress, pseudogenes like GSTAP2 do not produce active protein products. They are retained in the genome as evolutionary relics and are generally not expressed or involved in known cellular functions. GSTAP2 should not be considered a therapeutic target.
