Target intelligence / Profile preview
A glutathione synthase stimulant refers to any molecule or agent that increases the activity or expression of glutathione synthase (GS), the enzyme responsible for catalyzing the final step in glutathione (GSH) biosynthesis. GSH is a critical antioxidant, detoxifying agent, and regulator of cellular redox status. Stimulating glutathione synthase increases intracellular levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) and enhances cellular resistance against oxidative stress. It is a potential therapeutic target for diseases involving oxidative stress/redox imbalance.
