Overview

Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase pseudogene 32 (GAPDHP32) is a non-protein-coding DNA segment classified as a processed pseudogene derived from the GAPDH gene family. Like many GAPDH-related pseudogenes in the human and mouse genomes (among the most abundant in mammals), GAPDHP32 does not encode any functional protein product and has no known physiological or pathological role. Pseudogenes such as GAPDHP32 are generally considered evolutionary relics formed by gene duplication or retrotransposition events, retaining high sequence similarity to their parent gene but typically containing disabling mutations and lacking regulatory elements required for functional gene expression. Their pervasive sequence similarity can confound molecular biology experiments, notably RT-PCR, leading to non-specific amplification if not carefully controlled. There are no drugs targeting or interacting with GAPDHP32, and it is not used as a biomarker or regarded as a therapeutic or diagnostic entity. In summary, GAPDHP32 is a GAPDH-related human or mouse pseudogene, non-functional, not a therapeutic target, and does not have biological, disease, or drug relevance.
