Overview

Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase pseudogene 34 (GAPDHP34) is a processed pseudogene—a segment of DNA that resembles the mRNA-derived sequence of the functional GAPDH gene but lacks protein-coding capability[2][3][5]. While the parental gene GAPDH is an essential enzyme in glycolysis with multiple cellular functions and roles in diseases, pseudogenes like GAPDHP34 have no known protein product, physiological function, or direct disease association. GAPDHP34 is one of many GAPDH pseudogenes found in the human genome, reflecting evolutionary processes and the high retrotranspositional activity of the GAPDH gene[3][5]. It is not a therapeutic drug target, receptor, or enzyme and holds no role in drug interaction or biomarker utility[2][3].
