Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase pseudogene 47 (GAPDHP47) is a non-protein-coding segment of the human genome classified as a pseudogene. It shares sequence similarity with the functional GAPDH gene, which encodes a key enzyme in glycolysis, but unlike GAPDH, GAPDHP47 does not produce a functional protein due to the accumulation of disabling mutations. There is no evidence supporting any independent biological activity, disease role, or direct targeting by drugs for this pseudogene. Pseudogenes such as GAPDHP47 are generally considered remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events with no current function in human physiology[4][6].
