Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase pseudogene 75 (GAPDHP75) is annotated as a processed or duplicated pseudogene arising from the glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) gene family[1][3]. Like other pseudogenes, GAPDHP75 is structurally similar to its functional counterpart but contains disabling mutations that prevent it from coding for a functional enzyme[1][2][3]. Pseudogenes such as GAPDHP75 are products of gene duplication or retrotransposition followed by loss of coding potential due to accumulated mutations, and are common in highly expressed gene families, such as GAPDH[2][3]. While some pseudogenes have been shown to be transcribed or to play regulatory roles in gene expression, there is currently no evidence that GAPDHP75 is functional; its annotation as a pseudogene implies it does not encode protein nor act as a classical drug target, and it has no established role in human disease or therapy[1][2][3][4][5].
