Glycine-Gated NMDA Receptor

Molecular classification
Ionotropic glutamate receptor, Receptor, Ion channel, Ligand-gated ion channel
01

Overview

The glycine-gated NMDA receptor is a subtype of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, an ionotropic glutamate receptor. Unlike canonical NMDA receptors, glycine-gated forms (GluN1/GluN3) are activated exclusively by glycine, mediating excitatory neurotransmission and calcium influx in the CNS. These receptors are implicated in neuronal development and responses to pathological conditions.
