They may arise through gene duplication or retrotransposition. Although pseudogenes occasionally acquire secondary regulatory or other non-coding functions, there is no evidence that this particular pseudogene encodes a functional protein or serves as a therapeutic target[5][6]. As such, it is not considered a valid molecular target for pharmacological or therapeutic intervention.
