Glycogenin 1 pseudogene 3 (GYG1P3) is a non-coding pseudogene related to the functional glycogenin-1 (GYG1) gene. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to known genes but typically lacking protein-coding potential and biological function. GYG1P3 has no reported biological activity, disease relevance, or drug interactions. All therapeutic and research focus is on the functional GYG1 gene, which encodes glycogenin-1, a glycosyltransferase enzyme critical in priming glycogen biosynthesis in muscle and cardiac tissues. The GYG1 gene is involved in glycogen storage disease and various myopathies but its pseudogenes—including GYG1P3—are not established as biologically active or therapeutically relevant.
