Gwt1 (GPI-anchored wall transfer protein 1) is an integral membrane protein involved in the biosynthesis of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchors, which are essential for attaching certain proteins to the cell surface in eukaryotes. It functions as an acetyltransferase or acyltransferase, specifically catalyzing the acylation of the inositol ring of phosphatidylinositol during GPI-anchor biosynthesis. It is a validated antifungal target.
