Overview

Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored molecule-like protein (GML) is a low molecular weight cell surface protein that belongs to the Ly-6/uPAR superfamily, characterized by the presence of a single LU domain with conserved cysteine residues. GML is tethered to the cell membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. Ly-6/uPAR family proteins, including GML, are typically expressed on lymphocytes, certain tumor cells, and during various stages of hematopoiesis. These proteins are implicated in immune system function and tumorigenesis, making them relevant as diagnostic markers and potential therapeutic targets, especially in cancer immunotherapy[1][3].
