Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored wall transfer protein 1 (GWT1) is a eukaryotic protein modified with a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor, tethering it to the plasma membrane. In fungi, it localizes mannoproteins within the cell wall. GPI-anchored proteins have diverse roles including structural support, signaling, and adhesion. GWT1 is a target for antifungal compounds like 1-[4-butylbenzyl]isoquinoline, which disrupt fungal cell wall assembly.
