Glycyl-tRNA synthetase 1 pseudogene 1 (GARS1P1)

Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene)
01

Overview

GARS1P1 is a human pseudogene and a noncoding DNA segment related to the glycyl-tRNA synthetase 1 gene (GARS1). Unlike its protein-coding parent gene, GARS1P1 does not generate a functional protein and is not implicated in human disease or therapeutic intervention. While GARS1 is a critical enzyme in protein synthesis and is involved in certain inherited neuropathies, GARS1P1 is considered a genetic remnant with no known functional role.
