Target intelligence / Profile preview

Glypican-2 (GPC2)

Target
GPC2
Molecular classification
Heparan sulfate proteoglycan, Glypican family member, Cell surface protein
01

Overview

Glypican-2 (GPC2) is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan involved in developmental processes, particularly in the nervous system. It functions in cell adhesion, axon guidance, and as a co-receptor for several signaling pathways, including Wnt, Hedgehog, FGF, and BMP signaling. GPC2 exhibits restricted expression in normal adult tissues but is highly overexpressed in several cancers, including neuroblastoma, medulloblastoma, retinoblastoma, small-cell lung cancer and prostate cancer, making it an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy.
