Glypican-3 (GPC3) is a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan involved in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and survival, particularly during embryonic development. In adults, it is highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) but not in normal liver tissue, making it an attractive target for diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
