GNA15 divergent transcript (GNA15-DT) is a divergent long non-coding RNA gene located close to the GNA15 protein-coding gene on human chromosome 19 (chr19:3141576). By HGNC definition, divergent transcripts are long non-coding RNA genes found within 300-500 nucleotides of a protein coding gene's transcription start site and may be transcribed in the opposite direction. There is no evidence that GNA15-DT encodes a protein, has a role as a therapeutic target, or functions in disease. Functional annotation is currently lacking, and the use of GNA15-DT as a target likely reflects a misidentification; attention should instead be paid to the protein-coding gene GNA15, a G protein subunit with established signaling roles.
