GOLGA6L9 antisense RNA 1 (GOLGA6L9-AS1) is a human gene classified as a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), specifically in the antisense subclass. Antisense lncRNAs are non-protein-coding transcripts, often found on the opposite strand of protein-coding genes, and can regulate the expression of neighboring genes in cis or act distally in trans. While antisense lncRNAs in general have been implicated in various regulatory processes—such as chromatin modification, transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and translational regulation, and disease associations (especially cancer)[2]—there is currently no published experimental evidence linking GOLGA6L9-AS1 to any biological function or disease mechanism. It does not encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or protein product and has no known drug interactions or biomarker applications at this time[3].
