Golgi-associated kinase 1A (GASK1A) is a protein kinase active within the Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum, encoded by the GASK1A gene. It belongs to the FAM198 protein family and is believed to function in phosphorylation and possibly the cellular secretory pathway; its physiological role remains incompletely characterized, with evidence suggesting involvement in muscular dystrophy-dystroglycanopathy. While it is a broadly expressed intracellular kinase, there are no current therapeutic agents or characterized molecular mechanisms targeting this gene[1][2][3][4][5][14].
