Target intelligence / Profile preview
Golgi-associated RAB2 interactor protein 1A is a member of the GARIN/FAM71 protein family, characterized by a RAB2-binding domain that enables interaction with RAB2A/B small GTPases. It is predominantly expressed in the testis and localizes to the Golgi apparatus, where it contributes to vesicle trafficking required for acrosome biogenesis and normal sperm head morphology. Functional knockouts in animal models indicate a critical role in male fertility, but it is not a recognized therapeutic target and its nomenclature is frequently confounded with related family members
