The Golgi SNAP receptor complex member 2 pseudogene (ENSG00000264029) is a processed pseudogene related to the GOSR2 gene, which encodes a component of the SNARE complex involved in vesicle transport at the Golgi apparatus. As a pseudogene, it does not encode a functional protein and arises through retrotransposition or gene duplication events resulting in lost or severely diminished protein-coding potential. While generally considered non-functional "junk" DNA, pseudogenes can sometimes regulate other genes at the RNA level or participate in competitive endogenous RNA networks.
