Golgi transport 1A (GOLT1A) is a vesicle transport protein involved in mediating the fusion of transport vesicles derived from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) with the Golgi complex[1][3][5]. It is localized predominantly in the Golgi apparatus, endoplasmic reticulum, and nuclear envelope[1][3]. GOLT1A is predicted to participate in ER-to-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport, facilitating the movement and fusion of cargo-carrying vesicles necessary for proper intracellular trafficking and protein secretion[1][3][5]. Dysregulation of GOLT1A expression has been linked to disease contexts such as autism spectrum disorder and may correlate with poor prognosis in some cancers, including papillary thyroid carcinoma[3][5]. While GOLT1A is essential for cellular protein trafficking, there are currently no approved drugs targeting this protein, and its status as a direct therapeutic target remains unestablished[3].
