Target intelligence / Profile preview
Golgin A2 pseudogene 3 Y-linked (GOLGA2P3Y) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene found on the human Y chromosome, specifically within the P1 palindrome region. It has two known copies, and the record often refers to the more telomeric copy. Although some related pseudogenes in the AZFc region of the Y chromosome are transcribed in testis and may influence spermatogenesis, GOLGA2P3Y itself is not known to code for a functional protein and is not implicated as a direct cause of disease or as a therapeutic target. Variations in copy number at its locus have been associated with differences in male fertility in the context of broad AZFc region deletions, but its individual role remains unresolved and is considered minor compared to other Y-linked genes.
