Golgin A6 family-like 9 pseudogene, abbreviated as GOLGA6L9P or GOLGA6L9, is a human pseudogene classified as a processed pseudogene based on sequence similarity to members of the Golgin A6 family of proteins[3][10][11]. Pseudogenes are genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but generally nonfunctional; they arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and contain disabling mutations that prevent the expression of functional proteins[2][4][8]. According to both Genecards and HGNC, ENSG00000259683 is annotated as a pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene[3][10].
