Golgin A7 family member B (GOLGA7B) is a member of the Erf4 protein family and functions as an accessory Golgi matrix protein involved in regulating cell adhesion, primarily by stabilizing the plasma membrane localization of the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC5 through S-acylation (palmitoylation)[1][2]. Golga7b contributes to the assembly and maintenance of adhesion complexes (especially desmosomes) and may have roles in protein trafficking within the Golgi apparatus and to the cell surface[1][2][3]. Genetic studies suggest that GOLGA7B may be a plausible novel contributor to acne vulgaris, particularly in the context of dietary glycaemic index, and it is also linked by association with Alzheimer disease[4][2]. GOLGA7B itself is not a classic drug target (such as a receptor or enzyme), and there are no known direct drug interactions or targeted therapies described in current scientific literature[2][4].
