Golgin A8 family member B (GOLGA8B) is a member of the golgin family of Golgi matrix proteins involved in maintaining the structure and function of the Golgi apparatus, particularly those involved in protein trafficking, glycosylation, and post-translational modification. GOLGA8B is mainly localized to the Golgi apparatus and cytosol, where it is thought to help organize Golgi structure and may participate in vesicular transport. While alterations in expression have been linked to cancer metastasis, especially in lung squamous cell carcinoma, there is currently no evidence that GOLGA8B is a direct therapeutic target or receptor. GOLGA8B can also be confused with GOLGA5 (Golgin-67), but these are distinct proteins, so synonym use is sometimes inaccurate.
