Golgin A8 family member J (GOLGA8J)

Golgin A8 family member J (GOLGA8J) is a protein localized predominantly to the Golgi apparatus and is implicated in the organization and maintenance of Golgi structure[3][10]. It is predicted to be active at the Golgi cis cisterna, Golgi cisterna membrane, and the cis-Golgi network[3][10]. GOLGA8J is a member of the broader golgin family of proteins, which are known to function as structural components of the Golgi and may play a role in protein tethering and vesicular trafficking within the secretory pathway[3][10]. The protein is enriched in the testis[7] and does not have well-established receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor activity. GOLGA8J has been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and familial febrile seizures[3], and it may be impacted in chromosomal copy number variations involving the 15q11q13 locus[3]. There are currently no known drugs directly targeting this protein, nor is it reported as a therapeutic target in the literature[3][11].
