Overview

Golgin subfamily A member 6-like protein 6 (GOLGA6L6) is a member of the golgin family of proteins, which are Golgi matrix proteins thought to contribute to the structural integrity and organization of the Golgi apparatus[3][9]. GOLGA6L6 is annotated as a protein-coding gene, but may also function as a pseudogene depending on species and context, as it is located in a genomic segment prone to duplications on chromosome 15. There is currently no evidence that GOLGA6L6 serves as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or signaling molecule, nor is it known to be a direct disease gene or therapeutic target. The protein may have a role (analogous to other golgins) in maintaining Golgi structure or facilitating vesicle tethering, but there are no confirmed molecular or pathophysiological mechanisms, direct drug interactions, or established biomarker roles reported in the literature[3][8][9].
