Golgin subfamily A member 7 (GOLGA7)

Target
GOLGA7
Molecular classification
Other (acylated Golgi-associated protein), Component of palmitoyltransferase complex
01

Overview

Golgin subfamily A member 7 (GOLGA7) is an acylated protein encoded by the GOLGA7 gene, localized in the Golgi apparatus where it participates in the transport of proteins from the Golgi to the plasma membrane, and is a component of the ZDHHC9 palmitoyltransferase complex responsible for S-palmitoylation of specific target proteins such as HRAS and NRAS[1][4][6][7]. GOLGA7 additionally acts as an accessory protein in complexes that can mediate specific forms of non-apoptotic cell death in response to small molecules in certain contexts such as cancer cell models[2]. There are no approved drugs directly targeting this protein, and it is not currently recognized as a canonical therapeutic target.
