Overview

Golgin subfamily A member 8K (GOLGA8K) is a protein encoded by the GOLGA8K gene in humans. It is predicted to be involved in the organization and maintenance of the Golgi apparatus, likely functioning as part of the structural matrix of the Golgi cisternae. GOLGA8K is a member of the golgin family, proteins typically associated with the Golgi compartment, and is enriched in testis tissue. Although linked genetically to chromosomal deletion syndromes (notably chromosome 15q13.3 deletion syndrome), there is currently no evidence supporting GOLGA8K as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or signaling molecule[3][2][10][6].
