Gonadotropin-releasing hormone axis

The "Gonadotropin-releasing hormone axis" is not a specific molecule or receptor but refers to the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis. This is an integrated endocrine system comprising the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and gonads. The HPG axis regulates key physiological processes including development, reproduction, and aging by coordinating the secretion of hormones such as gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estrogen, and testosterone. It plays a central role in sexual maturation at puberty and ongoing reproductive function in adults. Disruption of this axis can lead to various reproductive disorders.
