Goosecoid homeobox (GSC) is a homeobox-containing transcription factor critical in early vertebrate embryogenesis. It governs morphogenesis by regulating genes involved in cell migration, dorsal axis formation, and mesendodermal patterning during gastrulation. GSC activity in the embryonic organizer promotes proper head and craniofacial development, body axis formation, and tissue patterning. Disruption of GSC can result in severe developmental abnormalities such as head truncation, facial and ear malformations, and disturbed dorsal-ventral patterning. GSC interacts with other transcription factors in a regulatory network ensuring robust embryonic patterning[1][2][3].
