GPC6 antisense RNA 2 (GPC6-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand overlapping or near the GPC6 locus on human chromosome 13. It does not encode a protein and its biological functions are not well-characterized. Unlike its sense partner gene, GPC6 (glypican 6), which encodes a cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycan with established roles in skeletal development and cancer biology, GPC6-AS2's potential regulatory roles or involvement in disease remain to be elucidated. There is currently no evidence for its direct involvement as a therapeutic target or disease biomarker.
