Overview
Granulocyte–macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is a monomeric glycoprotein cytokine that plays a central role in hematopoiesis, immune regulation, and inflammation. It stimulates stem cells to produce granulocytes and monocytes, enhances migration of neutrophils, and regulates activity of non-blood cell types. Overproduction is implicated in autoimmune pathogenesis, and it has a complex role in cancer biology.
