GRAPL antisense RNA 1 (GRAPL-AS1) is a long non-coding antisense RNA gene. It produces an RNA molecule complementary to the protein-coding GRAPL gene, which may regulate GRAPL gene expression post-transcriptionally through hybridization and affecting mRNA stability; these mechanisms are characteristic of natural antisense transcripts. GRAPL-AS1 is annotated in the human genome and has been affiliated with disease risk, notably autism spectrum disorder, though its exact biological roles are yet to be fully elucidated[5][6].
