Grass Group 5 Allergen (Group 5 Allergen)

Target
Group 5 Allergen
Molecular classification
Protein, Allergen, Ribonuclease
01

Overview

Grass Group 5 allergens are a family of highly potent and prevalent proteins found in the pollen of temperate grasses, such as timothy grass (*Phleum pratense*), ryegrass (*Lolium perenne*), and canary grass. These allergens are major triggers for allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and bronchial asthma, especially during the grass pollen season in temperate climates. They are characterized by ribonuclease activity and consist of isoforms such as Group 5a and Group 5b. Sensitization to Group 5 allergens is prevalent in a significant proportion of grass pollen-allergic individuals.
