Overview

GRB2-related adaptor protein-like (GRAPL) is a predicted human protein encoded by the GRAPL gene (GeneID: 400581) that is proposed to enable receptor tyrosine kinase binding and function as a signaling adaptor. Its sequence and domain structure suggest similarity to the GRB2 family of adaptor proteins, which are involved in signal transduction from receptor tyrosine kinases to downstream pathways. However, unlike well-characterized family members (e.g., GRAP, GRAP2), GRAPL lacks robust experimental data or validation of its biological role, interactions, or clinical significance. As such, GRAPL currently represents an annotation with little functional support, and its status as a protein-coding gene, adapter, or lncRNA remains unclear. This ambiguity is reinforced by confusion with other GRB2 family genes, whose signaling functions in immune cells and cancer have been established, unlike GRAPL.
