Overview

GREB1L antisense RNA 1 (GREB1L-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed in the antisense direction relative to the GREB1L gene, located on human chromosome 18 (chr18:21379927-21451062, hg38)[1][6]. As a member of the antisense lncRNA class, GREB1L-AS1 is thought to regulate gene expression at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level, likely influencing the expression of its paired sense gene, GREB1L, through mechanisms common to lncRNA such as chromatin remodeling, transcriptional interference, or modulating transcript stability[2][3][6]. While its detailed biological functions are not well-characterized, diseases associated with GREB1L-AS1 include inherited forms of deafness and congenital renal developmental disorders[6]. There are currently no approved therapeutic drugs targeting GREB1L-AS1, and it is not classified as a conventional drug target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor).
