GRK5 antisense RNA 1 (GRK5-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene that is transcribed from the antisense strand of the GRK5 genomic locus[5]. Unlike protein-coding genes, GRK5-AS1 does not encode a protein but is believed to function at the RNA level, potentially by regulating the expression or splicing of the neighboring or overlapping GRK5 gene, which encodes G protein-coupled receptor kinase 5. While the precise function of GRK5-AS1 is not well characterized and detailed roles in physiology or disease are not currently established, it belongs to the growing group of lncRNAs potentially involved in transcriptional regulation and chromatin organization[5]. There is currently no evidence supporting its use as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or involvement in drug interaction mechanisms.
