Target intelligence / Profile preview
Group B Streptococcus capsular polysaccharide type Ib (GBS CPS Ib) is a high-molecular-weight carbohydrate polymer that serves as a major virulence factor for the bacterium *Streptococcus agalactiae*. It inhibits phagocytosis and contributes to immune evasion, playing a critical role in the pathogenesis of neonatal sepsis and meningitis. GBS CPS Ib is a key target for vaccine development, with multivalent conjugate vaccines aiming to induce protective antibody responses against this and other serotypes.
Antibody-mediated opsonization and phagocytosis (via anti-CPS Ib antibodies)
