Growth arrest-specific protein 6 (GAS6) is a vitamin K-dependent plasma protein that acts as a ligand for the TAM family of receptor tyrosine kinases (AXL, TYRO3, and MerTK). Through these receptors, it regulates various cellular processes, including cell growth, survival, adhesion, migration, platelet activation, vascular wall homeostasis, immune regulation, hepatic regeneration, and neuronal survival. Its involvement in hemostasis, inflammation, cancer, and viral infection makes it an attractive therapeutic target.
