Target intelligence / Profile preview
Bone morphogenetic protein 9 (BMP9), also known as growth differentiation factor 2 (GDF2), is a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily. It plays critical roles in maintaining endothelial integrity, bone formation, cardiac protection, and various other physiological processes. BMP9 signals primarily through ALK1 and endoglin receptors, activating Smad1/5/8 pathways. Dysregulation of BMP9 signaling is implicated in diseases like Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
