Growth Factor Receptor-Bound Protein 2 (Grb2)

Target
Grb2
Molecular classification
Adaptor protein, SH2 domain protein, SH3 domain protein
01

Overview

Growth factor receptor-bound protein 2 (GRB2) is an adaptor protein that plays a crucial role in signal transduction. It consists of one SH2 domain and two SH3 domains, enabling it to link activated receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) to downstream signaling pathways. GRB2 primarily mediates the activation of Ras by recruiting SOS following growth factor stimulation and is involved in multiple cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation, survival, and immune function. Altered GRB2 expression or function is implicated in cancer and immunological defects.
